truthiness...
as i found out on buzzsugar this morning, Merriam-Webster's Word of 2006 is "truthiness." Coined by Comedy Central's Stephen Colbert, "truthiness" is defined as follows: "Truth that comes from the gut, not books" and "the quality of preferring concepts or facts one wishes to be true, rather than concepts or facts known to be true." Awesome! i think this word will do wonders to my own debates especially heated political ones while i reside in conservative southern Alabama. "What?! You are going to quote who? Or bring up that old historical event? Please! You need to get in touch with the truthiness." Who can argue that? No one.
if you want to watch the orignial television segment Colbert introduced "truthiness" last year, click here.
also, you can watch Colbert gloat about the honor here.
Truthiness is my new vocab word for the month of December. I plan on trying to use it as much as possible in everyday interactions and conversations. If I interject this awesome vocab gem into witty conversation with humorous results, I will be sure to post it. Poor Brian, he better get ready for my truthiness!
